Work
My current project is to weave the vocabulary of metaphors I’ve developed over the years into visual compositions that echo the structure of musical composition. I want them to carry emotional depth in the way of music. This is a challenging undertaking.

This is my latest studio/gallery in Guerneville California showing a few of the works highlighted below.

Full Ochestra
8'X8'
Ink jet prints, fabric, paint
2024
This was the breakthrough piece. It has a strong structure. It incorporates some of my metaphors: illusion, displacement, torness, bewilderment. It has visual rhythm, motion and depth.

Twp details showing the semi sculptural effect. The metaphor of being "torn up" seems to resonate.
Improv
3'X4'
Inkjet prints, fabric, ink

This smaller piece is more like a song than a symphony.

Listening Room
8'X8'
Ink jet prints on paper and silk, oil stick, ink, fabric
2025

This is the second large piece I have done in which i am engaging with the notion that elements of musical composition have visual corollaries; that there are structures in musics that have visual partners; that a painting can feel musical and that it can open onto a similar emotional space. I like to move through the territory of the image the way one moves through a song.

Simultaneously I have been working on wall pieces that explore the same issues in a looser format. The drama of light is another perennial interst.
